AVAM Wedding Photographer | A Creative Wedding at the American Visionary Art Museum
If you're looking for a wedding venue in Baltimore that feels a little different from the typical ballroom or hotel, the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) is hard to beat. With colorful artwork, unexpected details, and the Baltimore skyline right outside its doors, an AVAM wedding gives couples plenty of opportunities to create a wedding day that feels completely like them.
As a Baltimore wedding photographer, I love photographing weddings at AVAM because there is so much to discover. The museum itself becomes part of the story—from the artwork and architecture to the little in-between moments that happen throughout the day. It's a particularly fun setting for couples who want their wedding photographs to feel creative, personal, and anything but cookie-cutter.
We started at the Canopy Hotel in Harbor East for their getting-ready and first look.
Then we headed to Federal Hill Park for some wedding party photos and couples portraits. It truly was the best option for fall! It gave us a little change of scenery and, of course, those beautiful Baltimore views. I love using this part of the city for portraits because it gives us a mix of greenery, skyline views, and a relaxed Baltimore feel—all while keeping the focus on the people celebrating with you. And it's right next to AVAM so we contunied the portaits there.
The ceremony in the Ain Gallery. Surrounded by AVAM's colorful, one-of-a-kind artwork, the space felt incredibly personal and unlike a traditional wedding ceremony setting. There was so much visual interest around the couple without taking away from the moment itself. It was the perfect backdrop for a wedding that felt creative, intimate, and completely their own. And we couldn't miss some classic 'LOVE' might photos at the end of the night.
